National eGovernance Service Delivery Gateway (NSDG) is the messaging middleware component of the service-delivery network in development as specified in India's National e-Governance Plan (NeGP).
NSDG's purpose is to facilitate interoperability and exchange of data throughout the network, enabling interoperability among formerly isolated islands of legacy technologies running on heterogeneous platforms.
NSDG details include:
- J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition).
- Service-oriented architecture (SOA).
- Web services.
- Compliance with ISO 17799:2005/BS7799-1:2005 for security.
- Open source
technologies wherever possible for components such as operating systems, application servers
NSDG is an integrated mission mode project (MMP) under NeGP. Within NeGP, a mission mode project is one with a clearly defined scope, objectives, timelines and milestones. Measurable outcomes and service levels must also be established. In addition to NSDG, NeGP also calls for individual State e-Governance Services Delivery Gateways (SSDG).
NSDG won The World is Open Award in 2008 at a function of that same name, which was organized by Skoch Consultancy Services and Red Hat.
